Blog Update: Email Newsletter, Bloglovin & Exclusive Content!

#DailyWings: ʺBooks are the carriers of civilization…They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind. Books are humanity in print.ʺ -Barbara W. Tuchman

I want to say “Welcome back, dears!,” but it’s really me who’s been gone since late January. A lot of both personal and work-related deadlines piled up on me at the last minute, so I had to take care of those. I’ve missed blogging, but I have planned out a busy editorial calendar this month so you can expect lots of great content coming soon! Thanks so much for your patience.

Believe it or not, even though I haven’t posted in a while, there have been several behind-the-scenes changes to the blog over the past couple of weeks. As the blog continues to grow, one of my main goals is to foster a community where we – you and I – can interact and keep in touch with each other in a myriad of ways. In addition to my contact form and social media networks, I’ve set up a few additional services to help you to stay up-to-date with the blog, with just a few easy action items:

Follow me on Bloglovin

Since migrating my entire blog to WordPress, I’ve really missed the “Followers” feature on Blogger. Numbers aren’t my go-to metric of success, but it’s still nice to see who my readers (and shy lurkers) are. Since my website isn’t powered by WordPress.com, I don’t get the luxury of having my most recent posts featured on WordPress followers’ blog feed. So instead, I’ve signed up on an insanely popular blog organizer called Bloglovin.

If you’ve got an account and would like to receive updates from me, go ahead and add “Wendy Lu Writes” to your Bloglovin list.

Sign up for my free monthly email newsletter.

Depending on how long you’ve been following my blog (formerly known as “The Red Angel,”) you may or may not be my monthly email newsletter list. If there’s one avenue in which to follow me, it should be via this newsletter. Although I’ve only sent out one newsletter so far, I have a lot of big plans for my newsletter this year that involve giveaways, special writing projects and even e-books! If you sign up for my email newsletter list, you will be the first to find out about exclusive new content and other awesome offers. You get dibs on whatever I share with you in my newsletters, and it’s only once a month. Not bad, eh?

Get regular updates whenever new content is posted on the blog.

Per popular request, I added a separate subscription sign-up list (whew – say that five times fast!) for people who want to receive email updates every time I publish a new blog post. I try to post about three times a week, so this is helpful if you’d prefer not to remember to visit my blog each day and see if I’ve posted something new. You get the news right in your inbox.

Another important change to the blog is my weekly posting calendar. Last month, I fell into a vicious cycle in which I’d miss one day of blogging and think, “Oh, I wasn’t able to post my ‘Writing Remarks’ for today so I’ll just have to wait a whole week before posting again.'”

Instead of designating three specific days of the week to each of my categories (that’s Writing Remarks, The SELF Diet and Chautauqua), I’m simply going to commit to posting two to three times a week between Mondays and Thursdays. Hopefully, this will give me more leeway on tough days as well as flexibility in figuring out when to post what article (which will be helpful when I’m promoting certain timely events).

Again, I do apologize for the lack of posts toward the end of last month. I’m incredibly excited about February, though – just a few upcoming posts include a Valentine’s Day blog series, a guest post on writing and an interview with a filmmaker. I can’t wait! Thanks so much for sticking with me.
